This this this this!!! i like immutable distros and stuff but god is it so hard to maintain an up to date system when there is like 2 2GB+ updates per week 😭
I could never get along with most immutable distros because of this kind of thing, I cannot justify downloading an entire rootfs for updates and I also very often find myself needing to install something at a level which would need me to make the rootfs rw, which would then mean the thing I installed would get overwritten on updates and it's just a mess for me.
@jded@EeveeEuphoria for the things installable next to the os there's rootful distrobox and sys extensions, rootful distrobox are really useful but are jank to set up and sys ext are only really used by gnome os, bluefin distroless and like fedora is trying to repackage rpms as sysexts
