The "new ZigBee device workflow"

1. pair device to the network
2.a. create entry in HomeBox and assign ID for each device
2.b. if there are multiple of a kind of device, create a collective item for those, it will be the only item in the IMS that holds things like manuals and notes that are model specific, individual items only need a cover photo in such case
3. rename in Z2M in pattern along the lines of
<type>-<location>-<id>, add HomeBox /a/<id> link to description
4. set up in HASS I guess

@lunareclipse fun fact, "Hass" is the german word for "Hate"

and that's the first thing I saw in this post after "new zigbee flow" and was confused for a second

caps, AM speech ref for no reason @illyBytes @MiaWinter ZigBee is still the only remotely reasonable wireless protocol for IoT though neofox_flop

In a perfect world Matter would be great but as it stands the licensing of the spec prevents you from making anything using Matter/Thread if you're not a large enough corpo to join the CSA (great name btw /sarcasm).

The main benefit of ZigBee in the real world is that it's not compatible with TCP/IP at all. Thus
everything needs to go through the coordinator, you do not get an escape hatch for communication outside of the PAN. This both mitigates security issues inherent to allowing crappy IoT onto your WiFi and longetivity issues because the devices cannot rely on any external service directly.
