i want semiconductor / integrated circuit making to be a trade or craft that anyone with the appropriate skill and time can do on their own or in a group. not just something you have to outsource to a megacorporation. like i should be able to design some chip and go fabricate it in some tubs of chemical in the basement. sure it would be a "bad" process by modern standards but its like how people still make clothes by hand even in the face of fast fashion. so maybe my chips would be slow and retro but at least i made them myself
