Gnome hatred very often has similar energy to prejudice towards marginalized groups. You have an entity that you strongly dislike the aesthetic of which is popular apparently only because corporations are pushing it, something that has “infiltrated the space” and you blame every single problem you have on it and want it gone.
If you don’t like gnome this doesn’t necessarily mean you fall into this category, everyone has preferences, but in general I think there is very clear reason why the desktop wars are inhabited so densely by right wing freaks who do nothing but sit on discord and run fastfetch
