I did, in fact, make a short PoC/Demo of "drop apps into ~/Applications and they get integrated"
it's messy and doesn't account for edge-cases, it doesn't have an internal state to clean up behind itself either, but it gets the idea across

I was almost convinced I was the only person left who remembered the AppDir spec from ROX Filer.
@daemonspudguy @alexia i only know of it cus of tsoding lol (he did a stream trying to implement appimage lol)
