Hot take: some sort of copyright system is probably a good thing. Right now, artists are dependent on money for existence, and copyright is important for that. Even once we get to a post-scarcity society, copyright will be important for plagiarism prevention and because honestly I think authors having at least some control over how their work is used, at least initially, is a good thing. It is already very easy for things like aggregators to prevent creators from even really seeing the feedback their work gets. Does the current system suck? Yes, absolutely, corporate interests are way too powerful, free use is too vaguely defined, and it takes way too long for things to fall into public domain. But we should replace it with a better copyright system, not no copyright system
