I like having a really basic requirement in my bio for following me, or on other platforms DMing me, because it lets me filter out spambots and people who don't actually care enough to read my bio without feeling like a jerk because I'm telling them they need to do stuff, but the problem with fedi is that it's really hard to tell the difference between an existing follower who moved accounts and a brand new account that's probably a spambot
